STAGING SERVER: Endowed Book Funds

Creating a library book endowment is a long-lasting way of showing your support for the University of Houston Libraries. Endowments are created with a donation of $25,000 or more. The contribution is invested and will earn valuable interest in perpetuity. The Library then uses a percentage of the accrued interest to purchase books, while the remaining interest is reinvested into the endowment to ensure continuous growth. Book endowments can be created in the subject area of your choice, and each book purchased using money from the endowment bears a specially designed, individual bookplate.

Each endowment will remain at the University of Houston Libraries to support our collections on a continuing basis. The principal of an endowment is never spent. It is forever a source of revenue for the Library.

Types of endowments include:

Memorial endowments, which stand as perpetual testaments to the memory of a loved one. Each book purchased with money from an endowment will bear a bookplate commemorating the endowment.

Honorary endowments, which can be created to support your particular area(s) of interest in the library. This gift will ensure a continual enhancement of the collections for years to come.

Personalized endowments, which may also honor a family member or a friend.
